AAEON Technology Inc., one of the leading IPC companies in Taiwan, has created two newly-designed Media PC modules this year, one is the MPC-8890, another one is the MPC-6800. Although the two modules offer similar functions, they have different performance to meet varying application requirements.

First of all, the MPC-8890 and MPC-6800 support low voltage processors, which are not included in the standard package. These processors allow users to operate their systems in the toughest environments and with minimal worries about system stability.

MPC-8890, Intel® Pentium® M and Celeron® M processor
Announced in the first half year of 2004, the MPC-8890 was the star at many trade shows, such as CeBit, Computex Taipei and ESEC Japan. With many attractive features, the MPC-8890 was the subject of many inquiries by professional customers worldwide.

The MPC-8890 was designed with low power consumption in mind, capable of using Intel® Pentium® M and Celeron® M processors up to 2.0 GHz. With support for 4/5/8 wire resistive touch panels via an onboard touch screen controller, dual view function, 5.1 channel audio output, 4 digital I/O (In/Out), 4 COM and USB 2.0 ports, the MPC-8890 is specifically suitable for high-end POS and KIOSK applications. In addition, with an integral mini-PCI slot, the MPC-8890 is also suitable for wireless applications via preexisting mini-PCI wireless LAN modules.

MPC-6800, Intel® ULV Celeron® processor
The MPC-6800 is another amazing Media PC board that you should not miss in the second half year of 2004. Endowed with AGP 8X, TV-Output and an Intel Ultra Low Voltage processor, the MPC-6800 offers a new level of multimedia performance.

Excellent Sound and Visual quality
Excellent sound and visual effects are the main ideas behind the design of the MPC-6800. Its surround sound effect-quality audio interface is controlled by an AC97 audio chipset with 6 channel speakers and S/P DIF. Incorporating an AGP 8X VGA interface with S3 Uni-Chrome Graphics, the MPC-6800 supports up to 64MB of shared display memory. Furthermore, the MPC-8890 can offer users a higher quality visual display platform. The maximum resolution is up to 1600 x 1200 pixels in True Color. High quality second-generation graphics technology from S3 Uni-Chrome enhances the visual performance in 2D as well as 3D. The MPC-6800 is suitable for POS and KIOSK due to supporting 4/5/8 wires resistance touchscreen panel. The total 6 COMs which can connect with touchscreen and IrDA make MPC-6800 more flexible for users.
